You must close your eyes
For we are gone, horizon chasing
On our grey sea-stallions"

Boats are beautiful objects in themselves, compositions of line and color yet totemic, eloquent of the lives that used them, the people and the places of their use and the centuries that went into their form. The language of boats is ancient withshipshapes: keels and backbones, ribs and spines, bows and sterns...tombstones. The old fishing fleet stands as a recordof a life work disappearing, and painting it is a kind of record keeping.
